Agent defocusing in two-participant clauses in Finnish Sign Language

This article investigates what strategies are used for defocusing the agent in two-participant clauses in FinSL. The question is approached by analyzing a set of data that consists of videotaped informational texts. Several strategies for agent defocusing were found. First, the agent can simply be omitted. Second, the agent can be expressed with a pronominal pointing sign used non-referentially. Determinant factors in the expression of the pronominal subject in spoken Spanish of Valencia

En el presente artículo se estudian los factores determinantes de la presencia del sujeto pronominal en el área metropolitana de Valencia (España). Analizamos fragmentos de habla de un corpus de 72 entrevistas pertenecientes al corpus PRESEVAL, adscrito al grupo PRESEEA. Los resultados muestran la baja tendencia a utilizar la forma expresa (21,8 %). La aparición del sujeto pronominal se ve favorecida por la persona gramatical, muy especialmente la primera del singular, y la clase semántica de los verbos, sobre todo aquellos que indican estados mentales y actividades. El futur i el condicional de les llengües romàniques sorgeixen de la perífrasi llatina CANTĀRE HABEŌ mitjançant un procés de gramaticalització que passa per diferents estadis. En la llengua medieval, conviuen les formes sintètiques (el faré, faré-lo) i les formes analítiques (fer-lo he), que es distribueixen segons els diferents entorns sintàctics seguint la sintaxi medieval dels pronoms febles. Sintaxi dels clítics pronominals en català medieval

In this article a classical topic of the studies on historical syntax is analysed: the enclitical or proclitical collocation of atonic pronouns in Catalan. From a Romanic and comparative prespective, it is shown that the clitical pronouns in Old Catalan have a very similar behaviour to the atonic ones in other Romanic lenguages such as, for instance, medieval Spanish or Portuguese, on one hand, and French, on the other. Specifically, we analyse phenomena such as: (i) pronoun collocation in connection to the verb in main and subordinate propositions, in propositions where the verb is the main constituent, in negative propositions, (ii) duplication of clitics or (iii) clitic raising.

Tämän pro gradu- tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää, millaisia mielipiteitä ruotsin kieleen hiljattain pinnalle noussut sukupuolineutraali pronomini, hen, herättää ruotsin ja suomenruotsalaisessa mediassa ja eroavatko mielipiteet maiden välillä. Lisäksi haluttiin tarkastella, mitä mieltä lingvistit ovat pronominista. Argumentit ovat vuosilta 2007-2013 ja ne kerättiin kolmesta ruotsin ja yhdestä suomenruotsalaisesta päivälehdestä. Argumenttityypiksi valittiin kielelliset argumentit, joita seulottiin tutkimukseen yhteensä 33. Mielipiteitä tutkittiin kvalitatiivisin menetelmin argumentaatioanalyysiä hyödyntäen.
